How to Install Stremio on Firestick and Android TV in 2024

One cannot blame these people when they are turning to alternatives like Stremio. It’s a streaming app that lets users stream TV shows, drama series, and movies for free. Stremio sets itself apart from its competitors by not hosting any content. Instead, it just directs you to other streaming providers.

In this guide, we’re going to give you a comprehensive tutorial on how to install Stremio on your Firestick, Firestick 4K, Firestick Lite, Fire TV Cube, and Android TV. That’s not all. Before you can install the Stremio app on your Amazon Fire TV Stick, you need to make a few tweaks to your device’s settings. These tweaks are necessary because Stremio isn’t available on the Amazon App store. You’ve to download it from a third-party source. 

Follow these steps to prepare your Firestick for Stremio installation: 

• Click on the Search option on your Firestick homepage.

• Search for the app by writing ‘Downloader’ in the search bar

• Follow the instructions to download the Downloader app.
  

The next thing you need to take care of is to tweak your Firestick’s settings to allow the installation of third-party apps. 

• Select the Settings option from the home screen or long-press the apps button on the remote control to directly open Settings. Next, select My Fire TV from the list of menus and options.  

• Select ‘Developer options‘ and click on ‘install unknown apps‘.

• Select the Downloader app you just installed and turn it ‘ON,’ or turn the ‘Apps from Unknown Sources‘ option ON.

Now your Firestick can download apps from third-party sources.

Follow these steps to install/sideload Stremio on Firestick:

1. Open the Downloader app you just installed from the Amazon store. For that, go to your apps and games. Click on the Downloader app and give it all the permissions it asks for (provided it asks for any).  
2. Click on the URL bar and write https://strem.io or ‘strem.io‘. Click ‘Go‘ or press enter.
3. When the home screen of the Stremio website loads, a pop-up will appear to remind you that the website uses cookies. Select ‘Got it!’ (Ignore this step if nothing of such sort appears on your screen).
4. After a few seconds, you will be on the main Stremio app page. 
5. Click on the three small parallel lines icon on the top left of the website. It is the main menu.
6. Click on the Downloads option.
7. It will take you to the main downloads page that will have multiple APKs available for download. All the APKs are compatible with different devices.
8. Scroll down to the Android section and find the APK link that shows ARM ARK.

Click on it as it is the appropriate version for your Firestick. 

9. Your APK will start downloading right after you click it.
10. Once the download is complete, click on install. The APK’s installation will begin.
11. Once the installation is complete, click on Done.
12. Once the installation is over, delete the APK. It has already served its purpose and is only consuming space now.
13. While you’d be trying to delete the APK file, a pop-up might appear asking you whether you’re sure you want to delete it. Select ‘Delete’
14. If you don’t want to delete anything, click on Open. Doing this will launch the app.

8. Open Google Play Store on your Android TV. 
9. Download the AFTVnews app. It’s basically the Downloader app but is available in a different name on the Google Play Store. You can recognize the app with its orange background.   
10. Open the AFTVnews app.  Give it all the permissions it asks for (provided it asks for any).  
11. Once you’ve opened the Downloader app, you will see a bar where you are supposed to write a URL of the app you want to install. Type the URL: https://strem.io. The Stremio app will start downloading automatically. Wait for the download to finish. 
12. You might get a prompt asking you whether you trust the website for downloading apps. Click Yes or Go.  Otherwise, go to your Android TV’s settings, find the AFTVnews app and give it the required permission. 
13. Once the download is complete, follow the instructions to download the Stremio app.
14. Upon the completion of the installation, you can open the app directly. Alternatively, click on Done and delete the APK of the recently installed app (to free up space on your Android TV) before launching the app. 
15. Since you have side-loaded the Stremio app, it may happen that the app won’t show up in your Android TV’s app drawer. To find the app, you’d need to go to your TV’s Settings. 
16. Go to apps and then find the Stremio app in there. 
17. Sign-up for the app. Or, if you’re already a Stremio user, enter your login credentials (email and password) and sign in.
